Sevier County meeting roundup: minutes, grants, annexation, surplus parcel and tourism MOU approved

The Sevier County Commission cleared a bundle of administrative and project actions June 23, approving minutes, grant changes and land-use steps in unanimous votes.
On routine business the board approved the minutes of the June 11 work session and commission meeting on a motion by Commissioner Ralph Brown, seconded by Commissioner Greg Jensen. The Commission renewed the annual Memorandum of Agreement with the Utah State Library Division to continue bookmobile service at approximately the same funding level as the prior year; Commissioner Greg Jensen moved to approve the MOA, seconded by Commissioner Ralph Brown.
The board amended a CJC grant to add $95,000 for parking-lot improvements after a presentation by CJC Director Karen Ashby; the amendment passed unanimously on a motion by Commissioner Greg Jensen. The Commission also approved Resolution 2026-6-3 to annex parcels into the Austin Community Special Service District after a map review from Parker Vercimak of Jones & DeMille Engineering; Commissioner Ralph Brown moved the annexation and the motion carried unanimously.
On a separate property matter Executive Director Malcolm Nash described parcel 5-37-5 — which arrived via tax sale several years ago, is located in the valley southwest of Monroe and currently has no water — and the Commission declared the parcel surplus and authorized sale at auction, with the decision to sell it whole or split into two lots to be determined.
The board also approved a Memorandum of Understanding among the Utah Office of Tourism, the Governor's Office of Economic Development and Veneto Callaboratories to develop a program to help local businesses market out of state and internationally. There were no recorded nay votes at the meeting.
The Commission adjourned at 2:28 p.m.
