Sevier County approves $147,000 tourism marketing grant and OHV restroom funding

Sevier County commissioners voted Sept. 22 to accept a Utah Cooperative Marketing Program grant of approximately $147,000 to promote tourism in the county and to approve an Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Recreation Grant to help fund restrooms at the Sand Ledges.
Tourism Director Amy Myers presented the grants and told the commission the marketing funds come through the Utah Office of Tourism and are intended to boost events that have grown in recent years, including mountain biking and OHV activities. "The ad agency has been helping to grow several of our events," Myers said during her presentation.
Commissioner Ralph Brown moved to approve both the Cooperative Marketing Program grant and the OHV Recreation Grant; Commissioner Greg Jensen seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
Myers also presented recommended expenditures from the Tourism Fund as approved by the Tourism Advisory Board and supported by the county's advertising agency. The grants and approved expenditures are intended to support marketing and infrastructure for recreation events and facilities. The county did not specify a detailed line-item breakdown of the approved Tourism Fund disbursements in the minutes.
