Sevier County Commission approves cross-appeal resolution, hires, contracts and multiple routine actions
Summary

The Sevier County Commission met Aug. 25, 2025, and unanimously approved a package of administrative and interagency actions, including a resolution authorizing cross-appeals in state property tax proceedings, personnel actions, and several contracts and agreements.
By motion of Commissioner Greg Jensen, seconded by Commissioner Ralph Brown, the board adopted Resolution 2025-8-1 authorizing the county to file cross-appeals for the 2025 centrally assessed properties; minutes note that Diamond K Gypsum and Pacificorp had filed appeals and that the resolution preserves the county’s position in state appeals.
The commission approved recommended assessor adjustments presented by Assessor Terri Hartle after she reported receiving additional information and a building permit that had not been previously recorded. Commissioners also approved hiring Kristen Bullard as a part-time Nutrition Cook I (Grade 7) at $18.02 per hour beginning Aug. 18, 2025 to fill a vacancy, and they approved minor updates to the Road Department Specialist job description to reflect current duties.
The board ratified an Emergency Facilities and Land Use Agreement allowing Forest Service use of the county Search & Rescue building (the agreement had been signed previously for use during the Monroe Canyon Fire) and approved the annual Cooperative Forest Road Agreement after Road Supervisor Bob Watts described which roads each entity will maintain; the minutes say the county will maintain more roads this year.
The commission denied circuit breaker/indigent tax-abatement applications for applicants whose income exceeded the eligibility limit, approved refunds for property tax and vehicle fee overpayments recommended by Treasurer Lindsey Hansen, accepted a Public Entity Affidavit deeding a roadway in a vacated subdivision to the county, declared listed personal property surplus and authorized disposal, and approved an annual predator-control contract with the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food that provides funding for bounties (no dollar amount is specified in the minutes).
