Sevier County denies recommended abatements, approves assessor adjustments and abates greenbelt penalties

The commission reviewed a list of applicants for the Circuit Breaker and Indigent Abatement Program and accepted staff recommendation to deny applicants whose incomes exceeded program limits. Commissioner Greg Jensen moved to deny the abatements as recommended; Commissioner Ralph Brown seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Assessor Hartle reviewed recommended adjustments to the county tax roll with explanatory notes; Commissioner Ralph Brown moved to approve the adjustments as recommended, Commissioner Greg Jensen seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Assessor Hartle also described a greenbelt rollback tax that had been mailed to previous owners rather than the current owners of parcel 2-C4-6. The new owners paid the rollback tax immediately when notified; Hartle recommended abating penalties and interest because the new owners had not been notified in time. Commissioner Greg Jensen moved to abate the penalties and interest on parcel 2-C4-6; Commissioner Ralph Brown seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
