Mental Health Association seeks Fulton County office; commissioners approve child-services hire and coroner discusses per-diem deputy

Officials from the Mental Health Association of Franklin and Fulton Counties told Fulton County commissioners on Jan. 27 that they are searching for office space in Fulton County and that an existing contract for Peer Support Services was not being used.
Carol Slemmer, the association’s Community Support Program Manager, and Scott Graham, chief executive officer, provided commissioners with a package outlining services offered in the county. According to the meeting record, Graham said the Peer Support Services contract was not being utilized.
County Coroner Berley Souders briefed the board on department matters including mileage reimbursement and informed commissioners there is the possibility of hiring a per-diem deputy; no formal personnel action on the coroner’s matters was taken during the meeting.
On personnel, Services for Children Director Christine McQuade and HR Administrator Mary Huston appeared before the commissioners to request approval of a new hire. Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to hire Amanda Sheffield as Caseworker II for the Services for Children Department, conditional on required clearances and paperwork. The motion passed with all commissioners recorded as voting in favor. The minutes note a separate Salary Board meeting was held regarding the hire; those minutes are on file.
The record also shows a Retirement Board quarterly review took place at 8:45 a.m. with Denny Koons and Jacob Barr of Raymond James; that review is recorded as separate minutes on file.
