Summary
Commissioners voted to work with SAP&DC to update the regional 'Alleghenies Ahead' plan as the county comprehensive plan and received IT updates: two‑factor authentication is in progress, the firewall project is complete, and phone‑system alerts were fixed.
Fulton County commissioners voted March 17 to work with the Southern Alleghenies Planning & Development Commission (SAP&DC) to update Alleghenies Ahead, the regional comprehensive plan that the county uses as its comprehensive plan. Commissioner Hervey P. Hann moved the motion and the board approved it unanimously.
The board referenced an email from Lee Slusser, director at SAP&DC, and assigned county planning staff to coordinate next steps. Commissioners instructed staff to begin collaboration and establish a timetable and deliverables for the update.
During the meeting the county’s IT director, Rick Grissinger, briefed commissioners on infrastructure and security work. Grissinger said two‑factor authentication rollout is "still in progress," that the county’s firewall project has been completed and that he fixed a problem so the phone system now issues alerts when outages occur.
Commissioners recorded several executive sessions (legal and personnel) during the day and adjourned at 2:40 p.m. The comprehensive plan update now moves into a planning phase with SAP&DC coordination and follow‑up tasks for county staff.
