Smithfield adopts MWPP report, informs Utah Water Quality Board

The Smithfield City Council on March 11 adopted Resolution 2026-03 to inform the State of Utah Water Quality Board that the city has received and reviewed its 2026 Municipal Wastewater Planning Program (MWPP) report and has implemented required collection-system actions under its UPDES permit.
Public Works Director Clay Bodily told the council that the MWPP report is submitted annually, that Smithfield has an emergency plan in place, and that the city has met applicable state requirements for its wastewater collection system. Bodily said routine maintenance costs are covered through utility bill payments and that impact fees are used to fund future system expansion.
Councilmember Todd Orme moved to adopt the resolution and Councilmember Jenn Staker seconded; the motion passed 5-0. A public hearing was opened and closed with no comments just prior to the vote.
