Scotland board adopts revised employee handbook and approves 2026 holiday schedule

The Scotland Board of Selectmen voted Dec. 30 to adopt a revised Town of Scotland Employee Handbook and approved the town’s 2026 holiday schedule.
Treasurer David Zito presented the handbook revisions to the board and said the document has been updated to meet State of Connecticut requirements. Selectman Michael (Mike) Gurnack moved to approve the revised handbook with continuous review to ensure compliance; Selectman John Aldrich seconded and the motion carried.
The board also reviewed a proposed 2026 holiday schedule that follows federal holidays. Gurnack moved to approve the schedule; Aldrich seconded and the motion carried.
The approvals came as part of a brief special meeting called to order by First Selectman Dana Barrow Jr. The board did not add items to the agenda and there were no public comments during the audience-with-citizens portion.
The board said the handbook will be reviewed on an ongoing basis so that personnel policies remain aligned with state law and related requirements.
