Scotland Public Library Board approves $2,000 director pay increase in 2026–27 budget

The Scotland Public Library Board met March 10, 2026, and unanimously approved a $2,000 increase to the library director’s salary in the proposed 2026–27 budget. The motion to raise the director’s salary was made by board member Angela Maschka and seconded by Brenda Gagnon; the minutes record that all present voted in favor.
Chairperson Joanne Todd opened the meeting at 7:06 p.m. and the board took a series of routine actions before addressing the budget. The board accepted the February meeting minutes after a motion from Angela Maschka, seconded by Charlotte McLevy. Angela Maschka presented the February financial report and stated there were no concerns; Leahbeth Scandura moved to accept the treasurer’s report and Amy Russell seconded.
Library Director Mary Geragotelis delivered the director’s report, summarizing February attendance and circulation. Geragotelis said a homeschool group will use the conference room for math testing, a history club will meet at the library, a scheduled meditation program was rescheduled, and the library plans to switch its telephone service to a lower-priced provider. Charlotte McLevy moved to accept the director’s report and Brenda Gagnon seconded; the motion carried.
During new business, the board’s special committee on director hiring reported that a few applications have been received. Beth Delaney was named to coordinate interviews with applicants. The board developed the April meeting agenda and adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
