Board ratifies low bids for heating, motor and school-bus propane fuel to lock 2026–27 prices

At its Feb. 11 meeting the Board of Awards reviewed sealed bids and ratified actions to lock in supplier prices for the 2026–27 fiscal year.

For heating fuel, Normandy Mitchell Company submitted the apparent low fixed bid listed in the record at $2.4686 per gallon for the July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027 term; the purchasing agent said he contacted the vendor before the bid-deadline window closed and locked the price, and the board ratified that action.

For motor fuel (city departments and emergencies), the apparent low bidder in the record was Normandy Mitchell, with an unleaded price listed at $2.2275 per gallon and diesel listed at 2.4691 per gallon for the same contract term; purchasing staff reported current prices were higher and recommended locking in the lower bid for next fiscal year. The board ratified the award and the price locks.

For propane autogas serving the Gaylord Public Schools bus fleet, the sealed bid record listed a single bid from Normandy Mitchell with a fixed price stated as 1.119 per gallon for the July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027 term. Purchasing staff said Mitchell was the incumbent supplier and that locking the price would provide savings compared with the current price listed in the record (around $1.30 per gallon). The motion to ratify the procurement was seconded and approved unanimously.
