The Danbury City Board of Awards voted unanimously Feb. 25 to award the city’s request for proposals for medical services for public safety and other city positions to Occupational Medicine On The Go.
Chuck Volpe, the city’s purchasing agent, told the board HR staff reviewed two proposals — Occupational Medicine On The Go and AFC Urgent Care — against criteria in the bid documents. Volpe said HR recommended Occupational Medicine On The Go based on its specialization in occupational medicine; by contrast, AFC Urgent Care was described as primarily an urgent-care operator and had prior problems cited in city experience, including communication lapses and inconsistent follow-up.
Volpe said fee schedules between the firms were comparable. The board approved a motion to award the contract contingent on execution of a final agreement.
The approval followed a brief presentation of the scoring and a motion to award, which was seconded and carried unanimously. The purchase will proceed once the contract is finalized and signed.
