A member moved to award the purchase to Total Communications under the cooperative contract, contingent on legal review and execution of the agreement; the motion was seconded by Dan Garrett. Eric (as transcribed) explained the purchase was required to improve backup and disaster-recovery capability and said the system would provide encrypted cloud backup for on-premises critical systems, including public-safety systems.
“This expense is a required necessary expense because it improves our backup system and the contingencies for disaster recovery… And we’ll also be backing up public safety as well because city hall has a replicated copy of all the public safety systems,” the speaker said.
