Benton County Commission approves multiple budget amendments, school funds and utility grant

Benton County commissioners on Jan. 20 approved a series of budget amendments and appropriations covering airport grant receipts, school funding, sheriff expenditures, archives shelving, election costs and a reimbursable utility grant.
Major actions included: budgeting an $8,334 airport terminal renovation grant (Resolution 20260120-01) and $1,426.36 in airport grant refunds (20260120-02); allocating a $10,400 Utrust grant (20260120-03) and $205,719 in state TISA Outcomes Allocation funds across school salaries, benefits, contracted services, utilities and capital improvements (20260120-04); and approving sheriff-office adjustments including a $59,690 appropriation (20260120-05, approved as amended), $7,018.53 in December revenues (20260120-06), and $528.74 in insurance recoveries for vehicle repairs (20260120-07).
The commission also approved $1,000 in donations for the Animal Shelter Cat Project (20260120-08); a $12,275.12 insurance recovery for a 2024 Maverick vehicle (20260120-09); and appropriations to purchase shelving for the Benton County Archives (initially $14,000 reserve transfer, Resolution 20260120-10, plus subsequent appropriation/amendment adjusting the additional appropriation to $9,100 in Resolution 20260120-11 as amended).
Election administration received $15,572.50 for election worker pay, ballot printing and poll pads (20260120-12). The commission approved notary appointments and approved a $346,138.20 reimbursable grant appropriation to fund projects for Benton Decatur Special District, North Utility District and Harbor Utility District (20260120-14). Most roll-call votes were unanimous among 17 voting commissioners with one absent; specific tallies are recorded for each resolution in the official minutes.
County Clerk Wanda Malin certified the roll-call votes after each motion. Several items included committee-specified amendments that were adopted before final passage. The measures modify the 2025-26 budget to reflect new grants, insurance recoveries and appropriations and direct county funds for capital and operational needs.
