Region 11 board approves minutes, calendar and several library and Title I policies

At its Jan. 20 meeting, the Regional District 11 Board of Education approved routine business including minutes, financial statements and several tentative policy updates.
Michael Smardon moved to approve the Dec. 16, 2025 minutes; Cassidy Martin seconded. The motion carried with five votes in favor (Stacy Foster, Joy Becker, Michael Smardon, Ellen Gillon and Cassidy Martin) and two abstentions (Susan Lovegreen and Hayley Albert).
The board then approved the December 2025 financial statements by unanimous vote after a motion by Michael Smardon and a second by Cassidy Martin.
On item 8.B the board unanimously approved a preliminary calendar for the 2026–27 school year following a motion by Michael Smardon and a second by Cassidy Martin.
Under tentative policy actions the board voted unanimously to tentatively approve policies 1312.3/6161.12 (Library Material Review & Reconsideration), 1312.4/6161.13 (Library Collection Development and Maintenance), 1312.5/6161.14 (Library Display and Program) and 6172.4/6161.31 (Title I Parental and Family Engagement Policy). Motions to approve were made by Michael Smardon and seconded by Susan Lovegreen; all passed.
No further formal action was taken on the initial budget at this meeting.
