Orient Energy Center contractor asks Adair County for waiver to use Union County landfill

Auditor Mandy Berg told the board that County Ordinance 32 requires solid waste generated in Adair County’s unincorporated areas be disposed of at the Adair County Landfill unless the Board grants a written waiver. She said the contractor for the Orient Energy Center has requested such a waiver so it may haul project waste to the Union County Landfill and will appear at next week's meeting to discuss the request.
"Per our County Ordinance 32, any solid waste generated in the unincorporated area of Adair County shall be disposed of in the Adair County Landfill. Otherwise, a written waiver must be given by the Board of Supervisors approving of an alternate site to dispose of the waste," Auditor Berg told the board. The auditor will schedule the contractor's appearance and the item will return to the board for action after public notice and any required documentation are presented.
No waiver was approved at this meeting; the item was set for follow-up next week.
