Adair County board begins repeal process for county pipeline ordinance
Loading...
Summary
After consulting the county attorney and noting Shelby County advised repeal due to federal regulation conflict, the Adair County Board voted Feb. 18 to begin the process of repealing its pipeline ordinance and set a public hearing for next week.
Supervisor Hoadley told the board Feb. 18 that Shelby County had been advised to repeal its pipeline ordinance because it conflicts with federal regulations, and asked whether Adair County should consider doing the same. Auditor Mandy Berg said County Attorney Larson agreed that repeal would be in the county’s best interest.
Moved by Wedemeyer and seconded by Hoadley, the board voted to begin the process of repealing the county pipeline ordinance and directed Auditor Berg to place a public hearing on next week’s agenda. The auditor explained the repeal would require either three readings of a new ordinance or, if the ordinance is published and copies made available prior to the first reading, the board could waive the second and third readings with a majority vote.
The board’s action starts the statutory process; the public hearing will allow residents and stakeholders to comment before the board votes on final repeal language.
