Adair County awards $1.46 million road resurfacing contract to Grimes Asphalt

The Adair County Board of Supervisors voted Feb. 18 to accept the low bid from Grimes Asphalt and Paving Corporation and award a $1,459,318.62 contract for two hot-mix asphalt resurfacing projects in the county.
The resolution (No. 2026-18) describes the work as cold in-place recycling and HMA resurfacing of the N-77 Casey Stub Road project, FM-COO1(132)-55-01, and the 350th Street Rose Acres Road HMA resurfacing project. The board recorded a roll-call vote with Supervisors Hoadley, Wedemeyer, Christoffersen, Baier and Walker all voting aye.
The resolution authorizes the county to accept Grimes Asphalt’s bid and directs that, after receipt of contract documents including the contractor’s bond and certificate of insurance, Nick Kauffman, P.E., County Engineer for Adair County, be empowered to execute the construction contracts on the county’s behalf. Assistant to the Engineer Sawyer Hansen later briefed the board on related maintenance activity, noting a preconstruction meeting had been held with Grimes Asphalt and that bridge and rock-stocking work is ongoing in the county.
The projects are funded and managed through the county’s engineer’s office and will proceed once the required contractual paperwork is in place. The board took the action as a formal award; no dissent was recorded.
