The Historic Landmark Commission postponed action on a storefront sign and paint proposal from Luna Sky LLC for 103 E. Pine St. after commissioners raised concerns about color and compatibility with the local historic district.
Luna Sky representatives presented a color sample and a mockup showing the proposed sign and exterior paint. The applicants said the purple tone matches colors used in nearby murals and described the sign as heavy vinyl mounted to wood and replaced approximately every three to four years.
Commissioner Christie Ann Harvey said the proposed color was too strong. "It is too purple," Commissioner Harvey said. Commissioner John Strand said the colors and design did not fit with the historic district’s character. Commissioner Jim Reedy asked whether the applicants could provide a toned-down palette, remove the yellow stripe and propose a smaller sign that would not overpower the building.
Luna Sky indicated they could remove the flower boxes from their design and would resubmit a revised proposal. Commissioner Harvey moved to postpone approval until the commission could see the proposal in person; Commissioner Miguel Briseno seconded. The minutes record that the commission set a follow-up meeting on Dec. 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. for the re-proposal.
No formal vote tally is recorded in the minutes for the postponement. The commission adjourned at 10:54 a.m.
