City Administrator Kevin Bronson briefed the Westminster City Council on Feb. 10 that work on the Horton Outdoor Recreational Fields is nearing completion and the city is targeting an early April opening.
"Our goal is to have it open, in early April," Bronson said, adding that the primary contractor, Mammoth, is completing punch-list items and a final walk-through may occur in the coming weeks. He said AMW Construction has prepared the concession stand pad and expects to begin framing next week. (Kevin Bronson, City Administrator)
Bronson said staff are already receiving interest from groups wanting to use the facility for tournaments and that a list of potential users is being maintained. Council members praised staff and contractors for progress and noted the economic and recreational benefits of hosting tournaments locally.
What happens next: Staff will complete remaining punch-list items, coordinate signage and facility approvals, and confirm a final opening date once the contractor and inspectors sign off.
