Senate recognizes Dover High boys basketball, Edmond community champions during gallery introductions

The Oklahoma State Senate paused for gallery introductions to recognize Dover High School’s first-ever boys basketball state championship and numerous Edmond-area state champions.
A senator introduced the Dover Longhorns boys basketball team — the chamber was told the team finished the season 30–2 and captured the Class B2 state title — and the clerk read a formal citation praising the students, coaches, parents and community supporters. The citation described the title as a historic milestone for Dover High School.
Coaches Danny Green, Chris Combs and Jared Reese were introduced on the floor. Coach Jared Reese thanked the Senate and said the visit was meaningful for the team and the community: "This is a big deal for our kids... 30 wins was the most our school had ever had in a season," he said. Players and staff were extended floor privileges and received applause from members.
Senators also used gallery time to welcome Leadership Edmond participants, Edmond Memorial and Edmond North championship squads, individual state champions in wrestling and swimming, and local school officials, recognizing a range of recent athletic and community achievements from Edmond.
Senator Jett later used the floor to note visiting OSU students and TeenPact participants and reminded senators that a gubernatorial debate was scheduled that evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Oklahoma History Center. The Senate then returned to business and moved to adjourn for the day.
