Weston resident says dumpsters blocking Copper Lane sidewalk; plans formal complaint

A Weston resident told the City Commission on Feb. 17 that dumpsters placed on a Copper Lane sidewalk are creating a potential safety and code-enforcement issue and said he will file a formal complaint.
"There is a situation going on on Copper Lane. The owner of the property has been placing dumpsters over a sidewalk," Eduardo Vasquez said, identifying himself and giving his address. He said he contacted the property's management association and that their responses acknowledged the placement of dumpsters as part of remodeling. "I sent an email I think to Mr. Becker. He responded to me that I had to, you know, there's a procedure for a formal complaint which I'm going to do," Vasquez said.
Vasquez described the placement as a code violation visible from his apartment and said, as a risk officer by profession, he is concerned about the safety implications. The mayor and staff indicated there is a formal complaint procedure and provided a card for Vasquez to leave contact information so city staff can follow up.
No enforcement action or timeline was announced during the meeting; Vasquez said he intends to submit a formal complaint to prompt city staff review.
