Weston commission unanimously approves consent agenda, budget amendment and collection agreement with county tax collector
Summary

At its March 2 meeting the Weston City Commission approved several routine items by unanimous vote.
Consent agenda: Vice Mayor Henry Mead moved and Commissioner Fabio Andrade seconded approval of the consent agenda; the roll-call vote was 5–0 in favor.
Budget amendment (Item 7a): The commission approved a resolution reappropriating previously authorized but unspent funds from FY2025 into FY2026 to complete projects. City Manager Decker told the commission these are previously approved monies being reappropriated to close out prior-year purchase orders and that the action involves no additional spending. The motion was moved by Commissioner Fabio Andrade, seconded by Commissioner Byron Jaffe, and passed unanimously.
Tax-collection agreement (Item 7d): The commission approved a resolution authorizing an agreement with Broward County Tax Collector Abby Ajayi for uniform collection of non-ad valorem special assessments on behalf of the city and two development districts. City Manager Decker said a 'no' vote would require the city to create its own collection process, which would likely be costly; Commissioner Andrade moved, Vice Mayor Mead seconded, and the vote was unanimous.
