Hackettstown board advances policy readings, calendar and athletics; superintendent reports schedule changes

The Hackettstown Board of Education on Feb. 11 approved the 2026–27 district calendar, new media books, spring athletic schedules and several presenter and curriculum items, and advanced multiple policy actions recommended by the superintendent.
The Board approved second reading of P2418 (Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 — Students) and listed several policies and regulations for first reading, including P0142.1, P1220 and multiple policy/regulation pairs (P&R 1552, P&R 2530, P&R 2535, P&R 9130). The agenda also recorded the Board's action to abolish several policies and regulations following guidance from Strauss Esmay, including P3362/R3362 and P4352/R4352.
Under educational programming, the Board approved new media books for the 2025–26 year, a presenter from Savannah College of Art and Design (Chase Shuman) for a high-school event, and approved field trips and workshop attendance as attached by reference. The Board also approved revised co-curricular stipends and a set of ESEA grant appointments and allocations (for example, an ESEA Title I Part A substitute instructional appointment at $45/hour charged to account 20-230-200-100-000-009).
Athletic appointments and volunteer coaches for spring sports were approved, with names, step/stipend ranges and pending-clearance notes recorded in the agenda.
In the Superintendent's report, district leadership said it was moving the March 11 regular meeting to March 18 and the April 8 meeting to April 15, and scheduled a Committee of the Whole meeting for March 4 to align with state budget timeline changes. Student representative Miss Bracuti provided updates on strategic planning discussions and officer meetings; Dr. Grigoletti read a note from the girls basketball team thanking the district for their Florida trip.
The Board accepted February and January HIB reports, the January suspension and staff attendance reports, and an emergency-drill report listing table-top exercises, fire drills and an AED drill across the district's schools.
Other business noted a burst pipe in the middle school that was cleaned and repaired and reported that the community news outlet 'Tap Into Hackettstown' was purchased by a community member. The meeting then moved into an executive session on personnel and litigation matters and adjourned at 8:03 p.m.
