Offer withdrawn on Melbourne city parcel at 1015 W H Jackson; staff expect broader package to return to council

City Engineer James Ennis told the council on Jan. 27 that the sole offer to purchase the city-owned parcel at 1015 W H Jackson was rescinded that afternoon, leaving no application for council action.
Ennis said staff may repackage the property with two adjacent parcels and restart the disposition process under the downtown Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) procedures. He noted that much of the staff work to date will be reusable if the city reopens the solicitation and emphasized the likelihood the subject will return as a more comprehensive package.
A staff member added that the prospective buyer indicated they were in the process of buying one of the adjacent properties, suggesting the parcels could be combined into a single transaction in the future.
Because the offer was withdrawn before any council action, there was no vote or final disposition recorded on Jan. 27. Staff said they will bring the matter back to a future council meeting once negotiations resume.
