Borough Attorney Craig Bossong told the council on Jan. 20 that he participated in a conference call about affordable housing ordinances that will come before the council and that Governor Murphy signed new e-bike legislation during the recent administration change; he said the borough will monitor any required changes to the local ordinance.
County Liaison Patricia Keenan reported that Turtle Back Zoo and South Mountain Recreation are recruiting seasonal employees and listed job fairs on Jan. 31 and March 7; the minutes also list Feb. 31, which is not a valid date and appears to be a typographical error in the record. Keenan also said the 2026 deer‑management program remains in effect at Hilltop Reservation and South Mountain Reservation and that Code Blue was extended through Jan. 21, with shelter and warming‑center information available on county resources.
Mayor Jones and council members used the reports to remind residents of public‑safety steps, including a mayoral request that residents clear fire hydrants near their properties. No formal action on state legislation or county programs was taken at the Jan. 20 meeting; the attorney said staff will continue to monitor developments from Trenton.
