The Borough Council of Caldwell voted unanimously on Feb. 3 to appoint William R. Roberts as chief of the Caldwell Police Department, effective Feb. 4, 2026.
The clerk read Resolution 2-54 in full for the record before Councilman Daniolowicz moved to approve the measure; Councilman Jurgensen seconded. Councilman Brown, chair of the Public Safety Committee, made a statement in support of the appointment. The roll-call vote was 7-0 in favor; the borough administrator was listed as absent for the meeting.
During the meeting’s public-comment period, resident Phil Natale thanked the Department of Public Works for storm cleanup and offered congratulations to Chief Roberts.
