Council approves three engineering task orders totaling $208,875 for water and parking repairs

The Melbourne City Council approved three professional-services task orders on Feb. 24 that together total $208,875.
Jennifer Spagnoli presented a Jacobs Engineering task order (JEG-18) to prepare bid specifications for replacement membranes at the Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Plant; the service cost is $59,571. Council moved and approved the task order.
Staff then presented JEG-19, a Jacobs Engineering task order to design replacement of aging backwash ponds at the surface-water plant; the consulting fee is $69,974. That task order was approved.
The council also approved task order KHC2020 to Kimberly Horn (Melbourne) for professional engineering services to inspect and design repairs for the five-story City Hall parking garage (service life issues and damaged precast flange connections); the cost is $79,330. The scope includes inspection, structural assessment and preparation of repair plans and a long-term maintenance plan; the work is expected to be completed within 240 calendar days of notice to proceed.
All three items were moved, seconded and approved during the meeting; staff said the tasks are intended to keep critical infrastructure operating and to prepare projects for competitive bids or repairs.
The approval authorizes staff to proceed with the consultant scopes; specific construction contracts or funding appropriations, if needed beyond these professional services, were not approved at this meeting and would be brought forward as required.
