Mr. Hanley, who presented both items, said the sign ordinance consolidates multiple sections of the code into one uniform sign section, limits feather signs and defines poll signs, and provides a 30‑day compliance notice for nonconforming signs. The changes aim to make the code easier for the public to navigate and to address safety and durability concerns for temporary signage.
On camps, staff explained that the use table was inconsistent with applicable standards; Ordinance 1009 corrects the use designation from permitted to conditional in specified zoning districts (AG, C‑1, C‑2, C‑4) and adds requirements for ADA restrooms and connection to the city sewer system as part of the updated standards.
Both ordinances passed on second reading by unanimous 4–0 votes.
What’s next: The ordinances take effect per their codified effective dates; enforcement and guidance for grandfathered signs will be handled by staff with timelines described in the code update.
