The Mankato City Council on Nov. 10 approved three related actions for a 3.89-acre parcel at 905 and 909 S. Victory Drive: rezoning from T (transition) to B3 Highway Business, approval of a preliminary plat for Evanston Subdivision (lot 1, block 1), and annexation of the property into the city.
Staff (Mr. Konz) said the applicant proposes constructing two apartment buildings on the site and noted that a future conditional-use permit and detailed sidewalk routing are expected to return to the council. Council members asked about sidewalk connections, wetlands and pedestrian access; staff said the original concept showed a sidewalk along Stadium but that the final route will be refined during the conditional-use process and to ensure safe pedestrian access to nearby bus stops.
Council member Hatampa moved to approve the rezoning, preliminary plat and annexation; Council member Deacon seconded. Clerk Renee conducted roll call and the measures passed unanimously.
