The Mankato City Council on Nov. 10 approved a conditional use permit and certificate of design compliance for a proposed 20,000-square-foot indoor playground and sports center in the B3 Highway Business District at the Planning Commission’s recommendation.
Staff (Mr. Konz) described the proposal as a multilevel indoor play and small sports facility with parking that meets requirements and room for buses to stage. He said the applicant will work with public works on stormwater design before building permits are issued and that building materials and colors conform to city standards. Council members asked about expansion potential; staff said the roughly 4.83-acre site could accommodate expansion to the south or west depending on the final structure design.
Council member Deacon moved to approve the resolution and certificate of design compliance; Council member Mettler seconded. Clerk Renee conducted roll call and the council voted unanimously to approve the permit and certificate.
