Commission backs minor floodplain code update to add Le Sueur County panels

The Mankato Planning Commission recommended that the City Council adopt a minor amendment to Chapter 10 of the Mankato City Code to include updated Le Sueur County floodplain panels and standard Minnesota Department of Natural Resources language.
Miss Westman (city planning staff) told the commission the change is a minor adjustment stemming from a larger ordinance update in 2023; at that time the Le Sueur County floodplain panels were not complete and staff anticipated returning with this specific change once the county maps were updated. Staff said the proposed language is consistent with the comprehensive plan and DNR standards and would not adversely affect adjacent property values.
The commission opened the item for public comment, received none, and approved the amendment recommendation on a roll call vote. The item was forwarded to the City Council for final action.
