Citizen demands City Manager's termination; Council takes no action; concealed-carry ordinance also tabled

At the Jan. 5 Coweta City Council meeting, S. Allen Prather presented reasons he believes City Manager Julie Casteen should be immediately terminated. The minutes record that other citizens in the audience commented on the matter; Council took no action on the request.
Separately, City Manager Julie Casteen introduced Ordinance 912, a proposed amendment to Coweta City Code to authorize elected officials and municipal judges to carry a concealed firearm in certain circumstances. Vice Mayor Jeremy Barnett solicited feedback from the audience. Councilmember Jeremy Barnett moved, and Mayor Naomi Hogue seconded, to table the ordinance to the Feb. 2, 2026 meeting pending further discussion; the motion passed unanimously.
Why this matters: the termination request is a formal public objection to an appointed official and was raised during the administration portion of the agenda; the ordinance would change municipal code on weapons control and was deferred for additional consideration.
