Tullahoma board approves tenure for 11 educators after district presentations

The Tullahoma City Schools Board of Education unanimously approved tenure for 11 educators recommended by the director of schools after supervisors and principals presented evidence of each candidate's qualifications and impact.
Superintendent Dr. Catrine Stevens said the recommended teachers met statutory and board criteria, including required licensure, completion of the probationary period and sustained evaluations of "above expectations" or "significantly above expectations" in recent years. Presentations highlighted classroom leadership, student growth records and community engagement for each candidate.
Speakers who introduced candidates praised specific contributions: a supervisor described Michael Holliday's work teaching digital and recording arts and noted his partnerships with TVA and community internships; another presenter highlighted Macy Mayberry Honey's leadership in schoolwide wellness activities and recognition as a finalist for a statewide health award.
After the district presenters finished, board member Rosie Graham moved, and Pat Welsh seconded, a motion to accept all 11 recommended teachers for tenure. The board approved the motion by voice/hand vote.
The board did not discuss individual contract terms in the meeting. According to the superintendent, the tenure decisions reflect completion of licensing, required probationary service and evaluation thresholds established in district policy.
