Park board approves permits for Jack’s Jog and a cold-weather fundraiser

The La Crosse Board of Park Commissioners on Jan. 15 approved two special-event permit requests: Jack’s Jog, proposed for Oct. 3, 2026, at Myrick Gun Club and Marsh Trails, and a new cold-weather fundraiser by Outdoor Recreation Alliance at Upper Hixson Pavilion on Feb. 7, 2026. Both approvals were recorded as unanimous and are contingent on required city and county permits.
Emily Meyer, representing Jack’s Jog, said this is the event’s second year and that the special event permit has already been submitted; staff described the Board’s action as the final approval step. “They already have their special event permit in and just waiting for the Board’s approval as their final stamp,” a staff member said.
Staff also said the Outdoor Recreation Alliance event is a new fundraiser and therefore required Park Board approval because fundraising is involved. Commissioner Olsen moved to approve Jack’s Jog; Commissioner Cleary seconded. Commissioner Littlejohn moved to approve the Outdoor Recreation Alliance request; Commissioner Kirsch seconded. Both motions carried unanimously.
