Scotland BOE continues review of 9000s policies; vote scheduled for Sept. 2
Summary
Board members reviewed a consolidated set of 9000-series policies and agreed to take final action at the Sept. 2, 2025 meeting, including adopting several CABE model policies and combining multiple local policy numbers.
The Scotland Board of Education continued its review of the district’s 9000-series policies at the Aug. 5 meeting and set a vote for the Sept. 2 meeting. Chair Cassidy Martin and Superintendent Valerie Bruneau reviewed a package that would adopt the district’s revised policies (including 9000, 9020, 9110; a consolidated 9120–9123; 9125; 9132; combined 9212/9221; 9230 and 9270) and remove policy 9134. The Board also plans to adopt CABE model policies numbering 9010, 9040, 9271, 9300 and a combined 9310/9311/9311.1, along with CABE’s version 1 of policy 9325.
No formal votes were taken on the policy adoptions at the Aug. 5 meeting; Board members said the item would appear on the Sept. 2 agenda for action. The Record of changes indicates consolidation of several staffing and governance sections, but specific substantive language changes were not read into the record at the meeting.
