Officials said the new tractor is needed because two earlier mowers are incompatible or cause unsafe operation with the town’s existing equipment; the new unit will accommodate the mower and may be used for additional tasks. Bill D’Appollonio said the tractor has heavier‑duty bars and estimated it to be about 75 horsepower. The old tractor will remain available for the brush‑hog and intersection mowing.
Selectmen noted the governor/state bid contract discount made the purchase more economical. Warranty information presented at the meeting noted a one‑year warranty. The town did not specify a formal disposal plan for any surplus equipment beyond noting the older tractor would stay in service for other tasks.
The motion to increase funding to $58,500 to include the bucket carried unanimously; no roll call tally was recorded at the meeting.
