Chip Volpe, purchasing agent for Danbury City, said the board approved finalizing the purchase of a 107-foot Pierce aerial ladder truck from Firematic Supply under the HGAC/Pierce government contract.
Volpe told the board the original award was $1,897,356 and that Firematic had offered a $51,281 prepayment discount if the city pays within 30 days. A board member moved to approve the purchase reflecting that discount, stating the adjusted award amount as $1,846,075.
A staff member asked that the award be made contingent on receipt of the performance bond and the related performance fund before delivery or any prepayment. The board agreed to make the purchase contingent on receiving the required bond and performance fund documents.
The board voted and the motion carried unanimously. The approval authorizes staff to execute payment and contracts consistent with the contingency that the performance bond and performance fund are delivered as required. Delivery of the truck was discussed as expected sometime in March (delivery year not specified in the transcript).
The procurement was previously approved by the board of awards on Jan. 8, 2025; this action finalizes the invoice adjustment to capture the prepayment discount. The vendor named in the procurement is Firematic Supply; the manufacturer is Pierce.
