Board agrees to extend firefighter-physical services contract through 12/31/2026

Chip Volker summarized the item, saying the original award to Nuvance Health was made in June 2023 for one year with up to three one-year renewals and that the most recent agreement expires 12/31/25. Volker said the board sought to “take advantage of that last 6 months and then also extend it for an additional 6 months to 12/31/26” to allow time to decide future steps.
A motion to approve the extension was made and seconded. During the roll-call portion recorded in the transcript, two members were audible as not in favor: “Tracy Morris, I don't favor,” and “Richard, I don't favor.” The convener nevertheless announced the motion carried.
The board did not record a full roll-call tally in the transcript. The extension will permit the city to continue firefighter physical services through the end of 2026 while staff consider options for a long-term procurement or competitive process.
