The Danbury City Board of Awards approved a 60-day trial of Flock Safety’s automated license-plate recognition (ALPR) system for the police department on Oct. 15, 2025.
Board convener Chip Volker introduced the item, saying the police department submitted a proposal from Flock Safety and that “this proposal provides for a 60 day free trial period, during which time the city may terminate without penalty or fees.” That period, he said, will give the city time to evaluate whether to proceed with a longer-term contract.
A board member moved to authorize the trial and a second was recorded. There was no further discussion, and Volker announced the motion carried. The record shows the board approved allowing the police department to proceed with the trial window as described.
Next steps identified during the meeting were procedural: staff will execute the trial agreement and monitor the 60-day period, after which the board will revisit whether to authorize continued service or a formal contract award.
