Regional District 11 approves April financials, finalizes school calendar and adopts policy

Business Manager Jobina Miller told the board the district is about 80% of the way through the FY24-25 budget year. The board noted the FY25-26 amended budget had been approved previously at a special meeting.
On motions recorded in the minutes, Michael Smardon moved to approve the April financial statements and Kathy Freed seconded; the motion passed unanimously. The board gave final approval to Board Policy 5131.911 on a motion by Michael Smardon, seconded by Ellen Gillon. Michael Smardon moved and Cassidy Martin seconded tentative approval of Board Policy 5144.12.
The board also approved a calendar change: Cassidy Martin moved that the final student day be June 13 and that June 16 and 17 be staff days; Kathy Freed seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Administrative reports included a teacher report on a recent Pie Day and Principal Brian Tedeschi's update on a scholarship, AP exams, spring sports and upcoming events including prom, Memorial Day parades, a music trip and graduation. Committee reports noted meetings for Fiscal & Plant and Educational and Board Policies; several other committees reported they had not met.
