Scotland Recreational Committee approves July minutes, finalizes summer events and notes 170 runners in road race

At its Aug. 12 meeting at the Scotland Grange, the Scotland Recreational Committee unanimously approved July minutes, set summer yoga dates and Music on the Green programming, recorded 170 participants in the Aug. 9 road race, and scheduled its next meeting for Sept. 9.
Marie Beck called the Scotland Recreational Committee to order at 7:02 p.m. on Aug. 12 at the Scotland Grange. Committee members recorded attendees and moved quickly through routine business before discussing summer events and a small budget deposit.
Katie LeClair moved to accept the committee’s July 8, 2025, meeting minutes; Monica Lindsay seconded the motion and the minutes were approved unanimously. The acceptance was a formal motion recorded in the minutes with all four present members voting in favor and four members listed as absent.
On event planning, the committee reviewed summer yoga offerings and set dates and fees. The minutes list a July series (July 3–24, four sessions) with a program cost of $240 and participation fee of $220, and an August series (Aug. 7–28, four sessions) with a cost of $240 and participation fee of $210; a September session is listed as to be determined. Monica Lindsay was noted as handling the yoga funds for deposit to the committee account.
The committee decided to limit Music on the Green to three bands this season. Dates recorded in the minutes include June 28 (Slide Hustle — low turnout attributed to being indoors), July 26 (Goodbye Irene), and Aug. 16 (Laura and Donna, reduced fee $400).
Other community events recorded in the minutes included Spring Clean Up Day, scheduled for Nov. 1, and the Aug. 9 Road Race, which drew approximately 170 participants. The minutes state results were posted online and on Facebook and that committee members noted excellent feedback; they also discussed practical adjustments for future races, such as adding a portable toilet or moving the start closer to the fire department.
Under budget review, the minutes record that Monica Lindsay will take the yoga program funds for deposit; the minutes do not specify a dollar amount for that deposit. The minutes record no items under open discussion.
The committee set its next meeting for Sept. 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the Scotland Grange and adjourned at 7:39 p.m.
