Danbury purchasing board clears routine contracts and extends Veolia water plant agreement

Highlights included a sole-source purchase of an Econolite traffic signal controller cabinet for $39,168.46, a Henners Park partial roof replacement (low installer quote cited at $229,908), and a $52,461.47 purchase of a public-safety drone for the fire department from Skydio. The board also approved a one-year extension of the agreement with Veolia to operate and maintain the water pollution control plant from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, on the same terms.
Other approved purchases included a 2025 Chevrolet Traverse for the public buildings department ($39,560), an increase to an existing automotive-fluids purchase order to $20,000, and rope-rescue equipment for $15,211 from Firematic Supply. The board approved payment to the Housatonic regional authority for household hazardous waste collection events, documenting Danbury’s portion at $7,104.81 and authorizing a total payment of $17,104.81 to cover additional estimated regional costs.
The board recorded motions, seconds and unanimous voice votes on all items. Several agenda items carried sole-source justifications or used state/cooperative contracts; staff noted the Econolite cabinets are the city’s standard signal supplier and the drone and other equipment were quoted from cooperative-contract vendors.
