City approves awarding Rio Mimbres pro shop management RFQ to Derek Perales; JPA to finalize contract terms

Community Services Director Azucena Vargas told the council that one compliant proposal was received for RFQ 26‑04 Pro Shop Management Professional Services at the Rio Mimbres Golf Course and that reviewers ranked and scored the sole proposal.
Based on those scores, staff recommended awarding the RFQ to Derek Perales and asked the council to authorize staff to negotiate and execute any related contracts. Mayor Pro Tem Westenhofer moved to approve the award; Councilor Milo seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
City Manager Aaron Sera told the council the JPA board will meet next Tuesday to decide operational details such as whether the city or the operator provides inventory, who owns golf carts (the city currently owns them), and compensation or revenue arrangements. The council’s approval authorized staff to complete contract negotiations consistent with procurement rules and the JPA’s forthcoming direction.
