Bond counsel reviewed state election requirements and the council considered a resolution to place a $5,000,000 general obligation bond question for street improvements on the Nov. 4, 2025 ballot.
Counsel explained the question will ask voters to authorize the city to issue the bonds and that ad valorem property tax revenues would be used to repay them. City Manager Aaron Sera said the proposal mirrors a 2022 question approved by roughly 72 percent of voters and that staff does not expect the placement of this question to change the city’s existing property tax rate.
Councilor Milo moved to approve the resolution; Councilor Monjaras seconded. The motion carried by roll call vote: Councilor Rodriguez Aye; Mayor Pro Tem Westenhofer Aye; Councilor Monjaras Aye; Councilor Milo Aye.
With the council’s approval, staff will include the bond question on the November ballot and proceed with required election and publication steps.
