The Deming City Council on July 15 approved staff's recommendation to award ITB 25-02 (East Pear Street re-construction) to Deming Excavating Inc. for the base bid plus Alternative C, a contract amount of $2,525,948.30 excluding New Mexico gross receipts tax. Project Manager Jeremy Gervais presented the bid results and told the council the project is funded by the New Mexico Department of Transportation and the City of Deming and spans from NM 11 East to Country Club, approximately two miles.
"Staff's recommendation on this award is for the base bid plus alternative C to Deming Excavating Inc. for the contract amount of $2,525,948.30 and that's excluding New Mexico GRT," Gervais said. Councilors voted 4-0 to approve the award and authorized the Community Services Director and/or City Manager to execute any related documents.
The project design calls for Pear Street realignment and reconstruction; Gervais said two bids were received and evaluated. The contract amount presented to the council does not include New Mexico gross-receipts tax, which will be added per state requirements. Council discussion before the vote focused on project routing and connection points; no council member requested delaying the award for further review.
The council's approval moves the project toward contract execution and construction scheduling. Staff did not provide a construction start date at the meeting and advised that contract execution and mobilization depend on final paperwork and permitting.
