Calhoun County ISD board accepts unqualified 2024–25 audit, seats new trustee and elects vice president

The Calhoun County Independent School District Board of Trustees approved an unqualified 2024–25 financial audit and completed several governance actions at its Dec. 15 meeting in Port O’Connor.
Auditor Jeff Smith of Gowland, Morales & Smith, PLLC reported an “Unqualified Report,” the highest audit rating, and noted the district’s ending fund balance of $23,951,562. The board voted 7-0 to accept the audit report and its findings.
Joan McAfee, the superintendent’s secretary, administered the oath of office to Michael Williams, the newly appointed trustee for District 6; the minutes state Williams completed the required Statement of Elected Officer and was seated on the board.
Trustees then filled the vacant vice president position. After nominations and a roll-call preference, Dominic Robles was elected vice president; the minutes record that Michael Williams abstained from that vote.
Following a closed session under Chapter 551 of the Texas Government Code, the board reconvened and moved to accept the administration’s recommendations concerning instructional personnel; the minutes reference an attached list of personnel actions. The minutes also state that no action was taken on the intruder detection audit and corrective actions discussed in closed session.
The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
