The Calhoun County Independent School District Board of Trustees approved a slate of routine items and governance measures during its Oct. 21 regular meeting in Port Lavaca.
Board President Bill Shrader opened the meeting and confirmed a quorum of trustees Bill Shrader, Dana Dworaczyk, Tyler McAfee and Vinson Phillips. The board voted 4–0 to approve the consent agenda, which included minutes from Sept. 15 and Sept. 29, 2025; budget amendments for 2025–26; campus attendance committees; a resolution authorizing award of a request for proposals for cafeteria equipment repairs; an agreement with the Calhoun Port Authority concerning Port Comfort Power LLC ground-lease provisions; and a resolution and interlocal agreement with the TEXAS 20 Purchasing Cooperative. The motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Trustee Tyler McAfee and seconded by Trustee Dana Dworaczyk.
On Lone Star Governance items, Lisa Moya of Region 3 reviewed the board's time tracker and presented draft student outcome goals and progress measures for 2025–26 along with a revised set of superintendent constraints that included a new Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) constraint. Trustees tabled proposed revisions to board operating procedures but approved the student outcome goals, progress measures and the revised superintendent constraints by motion. The motion to approve those Lone Star Governance items was made by Trustee Vinson Phillips and seconded by Trustee Tyler McAfee; the board voted 4–0.
The board met in closed session under Texas Government Code §551.074 to deliberate personnel matters beginning at 7:10 p.m. After reconvening at 7:55 p.m., trustees voted 4–0 to accept the administration's recommendations concerning instructional personnel. Minutes record a professional recommendation for Geoffrey Jenson to be hired as a teacher at Travis Middle School effective Oct. 21, 2025.
No public comments were recorded during the "Audience with Individuals Making a Report or Request" portion of the agenda. The meeting adjourned at 7:56 p.m. after a motion by Trustee Dana Dworaczyk, seconded by Trustee Vinson Phillips.
