Adair County board approves routine claims, wages, mowing and sets hearing on pipeline ordinance

The Adair County Board of Supervisors approved routine administrative and financial items during its Feb. 25 meeting, including claims, township clerk wages, a cemetery mowing contract and acknowledgement of the county FY25 audit.
The board approved claims totaling $186.62 that included Auxiant HRA Ins Trust ($31.14), a $120 township meeting payment to Rick Stender, and a $35.48 charge to Wallace Auto Supply. The fund breakdown listed General Fund, Rural Services and the Adair County Insurance Trust. The board approved township clerk wage payments for Randy Christoffersen ($80), Evelyn Hopf ($120) and Judy Wedemeyer ($40), and approved continuing Grove Township Cemetery mowing by Mike Mangels at $25.00 per mowing.
The board acknowledged receipt of the FY25 audit and set a public hearing for the first reading of Ordinance 40, described in the agenda as "An Ordinance Repealing the Ordinance Regulating the Placement of Hazardous Liquid Pipeline on Property Located in the Unincorporated Areas of Adair County, Iowa." The meeting record also notes that a waiver to send project waste to an alternate site for the Orient Energy Center project will not be requested.
The meeting was attended by county staff and local media representatives; the board adjourned at 9:34 a.m.
