Orient Energy Center contractor seeks waiver to use Union County landfill; Adair County to hear request next week

Auditor Mandy Berg told the Adair County Board of Supervisors on Feb. 18 that County Ordinance 32 requires solid waste generated in unincorporated Adair County to be disposed of at the Adair County Landfill unless the board issues a written waiver.
Berg said the contractor for the Orient Energy Center has requested permission to haul project waste to the Union County Landfill instead of the Adair County facility. The contractor plans to join the supervisors at next week's meeting to discuss the requested waiver.
Berg explained that a written waiver from the board would be required for any alternate disposal site. The board did not act on the waiver request at this meeting; members directed staff to place the matter on next week's agenda for discussion with the contractor present.
