The board initially tabled consideration of the contract extension and convened in executive session beginning at 6:43 p.m. under the Texas Open Meetings Act (Texas Government Code Chapter 551, sections 551.072 and 551.074) to discuss personnel and certain real property matters. The public minutes record closed-session topics including personnel actions by the superintendent, student discipline and non-disciplinary student matters, and discussion of real property; the minutes state no action was taken on several listed personnel items during the closed session.
Following the closed session, Catherine Irwin moved to consider and approve the superintendent contract extension as presented; Julie Stern seconded. The minutes show all seven trustees voted in favor: Matt Dunn, Dr. Leslea Evans, Catherine Irwin, Kenneth Pruitt, Julie Stern, Jack Thelen and Josh Wilkerson. The minutes do not include the contract's terms or an effective date.
